Modern laser and intense pulsed light technology has supplanted
electrolysis as state-of-the-art treatment for the effective
removal of unwanted hair on the face and body.
|
 |
A laser or light source device directs a bright beam of light
to a selected area, causing heat damage to targeted hair shafts
and follicles without harming the surrounding tissue. The
dark “adult” hair is either permanently removed
or replaced with fine, light-colored hair.
|
 |
Determining factors for the level of effectiveness include
hair color, hair thickness and skin color. While improvement
is noticeable after a single treatment, the best results are
accomplished with multiple treatments, usually three to six
sessions for a specific area. In most cases, hair re-growth
is delayed for up to six months. Permanent reduction in hair
growth is achieved in nearly 80% of those treated.

 |
Permanent side effects of laser hair removal are rare. Skin
darkening is possible, especially if the skin tone is dark
to begin with, but in most cases this condition gradually
fades. In less than one percent of individuals treated, a
skin blemishing or scarring may occur. It is therefore important
to follow all pre- and post-treatment instructions carefully.
