Intense Pulsed Light, or IPL™, is a non-invasive procedure that can correct skin conditions such as blemishes, brown spots, unsightly small veins, rosacea and unwanted hair. Photorejuvenation treatment is normally given in a series of five sessions about three weeks apart, each lasting around 20 minutes. Common treatment areas include the face, hands and chest.
|
 |
First, a cold gel is applied to the area to be treated and
protective eyecovers are put in place. Next, pulses of light
are delivered to the skin through a hand-held instrument with
a smooth, glass surface. The light changes to heat energy
as it penetrates the skin, carrying the benefits of photorejuvenation
to deeper tissue. You may feel a sensation similar to a slight
sting.
|
 |
Results vary, but gradual improvement in the skin’s
appearance usually becomes noticeable during the treatment
program. A more effective option than creams, medications
or conventional laser procedures, the benefits of IPL treatment
may last for 12 months and longer.
